Modern Combat series

Everyone likes playing Call of Duty. Its a really fun game but you can't always be in you house playing it like when your on the road or other places. The Modern Combat series is basically Call of Duty for the iPod. The game is very fun and addicting. The game takes place in the present with real guns and has good gameplay. Even better than the gameplay is the online multiplayer which is very fast paced and intense. All of the games in the series are very good. Modern Combat, Black Pegasus, and Fallen Nation are the three games in the series. The storyline features three playable characters, 15 weapons of all categories(you can upgrade your guns) and 12 missions. The multiplayer is very similar to Call of Duty because it has a rank system where you can rank up through 72 levels unlocking new weapons and other things along the way. The online is 10 people and there are free for all, team battle, demolition, and capture the flag to play.

I really like these games. They are very fun and pretty easy to get used to. The graphics are very good and the game lets you set up the controls however you want, which is very nice. The storyline is fun and the online is even better, just like Call of Duty you can save friends gamertags and play with them when they are online. All three games were $6.99 the last time I looked but if you like first person shooters I would recommend getting these games. The new one, Fallen Nation, is the best.

GT Racing: Motor Academy

After I tried Drag Racer I decided to try another racing game hoping that this one would be better than the last one. The game I found was GT Racing: Motor Academy. This was a free game on the app store and i am impressed with it. The game has good quality graphics and the gameplay is very good. The game features cars made from 30 different dealerships including BMW, Ford, Chevy, Audi, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota and Lamborghini to name a few. The game is pretty straight forward, you buy a starter car and you race and as you level up and move on to higher competitions you get better cars. One thing that is different is that you have to get a liscence to buy and race in certain things. To get a liscence you have to pass four tests. The cars are all cars made today and they handle in the game like they would in real life.

As I said above I like this game. I would have figured that this game would have cost a dollar or two but its free. The game plays very well, there are no big glitches, and the graphics are very good. The races are fun and the courses aren't to hard but they aren't to easy either. The game also lets you tune up your car once you buy it. I like this feature but the only thing wrong with it is that they have to make the tune up selection bigger, right now there are only five or six things you can tune up on each car and that's not very much. That's really the only thing that i don't like about this game but for being free it really is good. If you like racing games at all I would suggest that you try this game.

Dead Space

Since today is Halloween I decided to do a "scary" game. The game I decided on was Dead Space. If any of you have ever played Dead Space on a console system you'll know the basic jist of this game. You play as a person who is referred to as "Vandal". The game takes place on a massive space city called "The Sprawl" where there is a mining operation going on. At the beginning of the game you are tasked with helping "The Church", which is basically just a cult. You begin to encounter these mutant humans called necromorphs which are basically super zombies. Once you find out what the church has dome you set out to fix and kill all the necromorphs.

I really like this game. It has just the right amount of fighting and puzzles in it, and all of the enemies you have to fight are different. You can't just start shooting at them and hope they'll die, they will all die from that eventually but they will kill you before that happens. You have to find out what each necromorph's ability is and then fight each one a different way. This game is a third person shooter, which means the camera is positioned behind your character so you can see your whole character. This game has excellent graphics and is very fun. It is $6.99 on the App store and I recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi horror games.

Drag Racer

I kind of like racing games so I decided to try one for the iPod. The game I tried is called Drag Racer. It was a free game so I figured what the heck, I'm glad it was free. The game itself is ok but it definatly isn't the best. You just rev your car at the begining and shift as you go down the track, other than that you don't do much. I  do like the fact that you win money and can upgrade the cars you own and you can buy new cars. The game does have a wide variety of cars so that is nice.

The graphics of this game are okay, they don't compare to NOVA or COD Zombies but they are okay. I like racing games but this one was not the best. Next week I think I'll find a better one and use that. Most racing games are fun but I found one of the ones that wasn't good.

Bloons Tower Defense 4

Everyone has been in that spot before; you're sitting in class bored out of your mind supossed to be working on a project on the computer. You get bored looking at facts about whatever your writing about and you start playing games. Most people have at least tried Bloons Tower Defense 4 before. Its a simple game in which you have to buy towers and place them along a track. Balloons will come down this track and as they reach your towers the towers will start attacking the balloons. The object of the game is to stay alive as long as possible, with each wave of balloons getting a little harder than the last. There are a variety of towers you can buy and you get money for surviving waves and popping balloons. Each tower has three normal upgrades and one special upgrade that is only available after you pop a certain number of balloons.

I liked this game on the computer but I like it so much more on the iPod. On the iPod the game can be saved so you don't constantly have to keep restarting and there are a lot more maps then the computer. The game developers constantly update the game with new maps and other content. Usually for holidays they will add a new map to go with the holiday and they will change what all of the towers look like to mirror the holiday theme, an example of this is for Halloween the developers added a pumpkin map and changed all of the towers to look live vampires, mummies, and other such things. This game was a dollar when I got it and
I don't know if they have changed the price of it, but either way I would recommend this game to everyone.

NFL 2012

I don't usually like sports games but i know other people in my class like them so I decided to try one. The game I decided to try was NFL 2011. This game is very similar to the Madden games but is for the iPod. I have only had this game for a few days but I already like it. Just like in Madden you can play career mode where you chose a team and play as them for a season. If you don't want to do that and just want to play a single game you can play exhibition mode where you just chose a team and play a game right there. There are also so mini games you can play, one of which is pass mode. All you do is try to get the most yards by passing the ball  in four tries.

I like this game for being a sports game. The controls are simple and easy to use, to pass to a certain player all you have to do is just touch that person. to run there is a joystick, and the other things like tackling and sprinting, there are buttons. The graphics are decent; I've seen better on iPod games, but they aren't the worst. All in all I like this game and I will be playing it for a while. If you have an iPod and you like sports games give this a shot, there is a free version that you can try before you buy the actual game. The actual game was 3 dollars when i got it so it wasn't bad.

Call of Duty Zombies

Whenever I play Call of  Duty: World at War I always like to play Nazi Zombies. Zombies was a new fun thing to play and it helped keep the COD series fun and exciting. The one drawback to this is that I like to play zombies and I don't always have an X-Box. That's why I like zombies on the iPod a lot. The game is played the same and the levels are exactly the same. Someone could easily switch from the X-Box version to the iPod version and have no problem recognizing the maps. The only problem, and I don't think its much of one, is the controls. There are two joysticks on either side of the screen, just like with a console the left one is for walking and the right one is for looking around. There is an aim button so you can look down the sights, otherwise you can just shoot from the hip. Shooting is a little different, to shoot you have to tap the right joystick, its kind of weired at first but it soon becomes easy to do. When you play you can either play by yourself or you can play online with up to four people.

I like this game a lot, its one of my favorites. The graphics are really good for a handheld game, they still aren't as good as a console though. I like how the developers kept the game exactly the same, that makes it easy to switch from console to handheld very easy. I don't have Wi-Fi so I usually don't play online and I still like the game a lot but online is so much better! One person is fun but four is way better, and its even better when you have four people playing with each other in the same room. Its just like playing online on a console with the headset. My only dislike is that they don't ever update the game with new maps. If they did that this would be a close to perfect game.

Cartoon Wars

Cartoon Wars is a series of games that is developed by Blue GNC. In this series, there is Cartoon Wars 1, Gunner and Cartoon Wars 2. Cartoon wars 1 was a single track strategy game, that is there is a single track and your base is at one side and you are trying to destroy an enemy base on the other side. Cartoon Wars 1 was a fun game but there was no ending to it, you just kept playing until you couldn't pass anymore levels because the difficulty just kept getting harder. Gunner was a game where you controlled a hero, ranked him or her up as you played and once again eventually couldn't play anymore because the levels just keep getting harder. Gunner was also fun but it lacked the satisfaction of beating the game. Cartoon Wars 2 combined Cartoon Wars 1 and gunner into one game and it was a great game.

In Cartoon Wars 2 there are several different modes you can play on, and these modes are story mode, quick mode, hell mode, and santa mode. In story mode you start out with the basic units and you must battle your way through six acts to beat the final boss. As you play you get money and can level up your units, hero and base to make them better. The base battles are like Cartoon Wars 1 because they are single track battles, but the hero battles are like Gunner because you control the hero. In the story mode for each base battle there is a hero battle. Quick mode just throws you into a base battle and selects units for you to use. Hell mode uses both hero battles and base battles but these levels, just like the name implies, are extremely hard. Santa mode is a mode that Blue released around Christmas time and has you helping santa to defend against the evil army so he can deliver presents.

I like all the games in the Cartoon Wars series. Cartoon Wars 1 was fun but like I said above it didn't end and you never really beat the game. Gunner was the same way. Blue really did well with Cartoon Wars 2 because it found a way to combine the other two games and make it fun. When I got these games they were all a dollar but I don't know if that has changed at all. Blue regularly updates Cartoon Wars 2 so the game never really gets old because there is always new content to play. I would recommend these games to anyone who likes single track strategy games.

N.O.V.A.

If you like sci-fi shooters then NOVA is a game that you would really like. NOVA is like Halo for the iPod in the sense that it is based in the future and you have to fight aliens. You play as a soldier that has left the human alliance because he does not want to fight anymore. He gets brought back in, against his will, to help fight because he is one of the best soldiers in the alliance. There is two parts to this game, NOVA and NOVA 2. These games cost about five dollars a piece but i think they are worth is.

I really like NOVA and NOVA 2 a lot. The graphics are pretty good for an iPod game and the game play is fun. The controls are very good because you have your standard layout but if you don't like that layout you can place you buttons and D-Pads where you want them. one of the things I like the most about these games is that you can play online for free. The online is fast and rarely lags, the online play is fun, and like Call of Duty you can rank up your player and get new guns and equipment. One other thing that is nice about the online play is that it is free. NOVA has pushed the first person shooter genre pretty far on the iPod and i think that there will be more good shooter games like this made in the future.

Great Little War Game

I'm always looking for good strategy games that are free on the App store. When i saw this game this game, Great Little War Game I decided to give it a try, what the heck its free. I never thought I would like it as much as I do. It is a good game and is a very in depth strategy game. You can either play the campaign or you can play skirmish mode. The campaign consist of a general who is invading...something you never really find out what. There is another campaign that is about the same general trying to impress the girl he likes. Both campaigns are the same in how they are played: You control the movements of you troops who are either given to you at the beginning of each level or made from certain buildings that you take over or start out with. There are land, sea and air units. Each specific unit has is own strength and weakness so you have to know when to use each unit.

I like Great Little War Game a lot! Usually I don't expect much from free games but this one had me very impressed. The graphics are amazing, very clear and good. The game play is very good, it is very in depth and it makes you think a lot about what you are doing. Even on easy the game gets hard fast, but the cool thing about it is that the same level can be played differently every time you try it, there is no specific way to play a certain level because the computer will always react differently. The skirmish mode is fun because you can either play against the computer or you can play against other people through pass and play mode. Pass and play mode is just what it sounds like, that is two people playing using the same Ipod passing it to each other after their turn is done. I would recommend that you try this game if you like strategy  games, you won't be disappointing.

Risk

I love stragety games. I like it when you actually think about what you are doing and what would be the best way to do it. For this reason alone I like the game Risk.

Risk was origionally a board game, but it has been turned into a game for mobile devices. In the game you have one objective: to defeate everyone else playing and achieve world domination. On the Ipod the game is pretty simple, you can chose to play with other people or against the computers and how many people you are playing against. Once you do this you begin the game one of two ways, you can either have the computer chose your territories(the world is divided into 50 some territories) and place your troops for you, or you can manually chose your territories and place your troops. If you chose manual set up you go around taking turns choosing territories and once every territory has been chosen you begin placing troops one at a time.

With the board game when you battled you rolled dice, and the Ipod version is the same way. This is just the highlights of the rules, the rest are simple enough that you will pick up on as you go.

As I said above I love stragety games because you actually have to think about what your doing and if you don't your usually knocked out of the game so you have to be careful. Stragety games are hard at first but after you play them for a while they become easier, and it doesn't really matter what type of stragety game it is because most of them are reletivly the same in how they are played. There will be several other stragety games I will be talking about because I play so many of them.

Guardian Saga

If your the type of person that likes RPG type games then you would most likely like Guardian Hero. It is an RPG in which you play as a knight whose kingdom has been pretty much taken over by monsters because these four Guardians have become lazy at helping to defend the kingdom. The king commands you to go to each of the Guardians and beat them back into place. The game kind of has a cool look to it because it uses the old 8-bit graphics. It also uses a turn based type combat so you have to buy new and stronger equipment if you want to survive.

I found this game one day just by accident while I was on the App Store and decideed to try it because i like RPG's. Since them I have played it a lot! I like the way the game is set up with the storyline and all. I normally don't like the turn style combat but this game actually pulled it off pretty well, your not compleatly underpowered and you can actually win pretty easily. I didn't like how you had to save your game though, towns were just to far apart when you actuall got into the game and it was a pain to have to run back and forth. Other than that I really liked this game and would recomend it to anyone who likes RPG's.

This Blog

This blog will be about different ipod apps. Apps are good time wasters and I will show some of my favorites.
