Cartoon Wars

Cartoon Wars is a series of games that is developed by Blue GNC. In this series, there is Cartoon Wars 1, Gunner and Cartoon Wars 2. Cartoon wars 1 was a single track strategy game, that is there is a single track and your base is at one side and you are trying to destroy an enemy base on the other side. Cartoon Wars 1 was a fun game but there was no ending to it, you just kept playing until you couldn't pass anymore levels because the difficulty just kept getting harder. Gunner was a game where you controlled a hero, ranked him or her up as you played and once again eventually couldn't play anymore because the levels just keep getting harder. Gunner was also fun but it lacked the satisfaction of beating the game. Cartoon Wars 2 combined Cartoon Wars 1 and gunner into one game and it was a great game.

In Cartoon Wars 2 there are several different modes you can play on, and these modes are story mode, quick mode, hell mode, and santa mode. In story mode you start out with the basic units and you must battle your way through six acts to beat the final boss. As you play you get money and can level up your units, hero and base to make them better. The base battles are like Cartoon Wars 1 because they are single track battles, but the hero battles are like Gunner because you control the hero. In the story mode for each base battle there is a hero battle. Quick mode just throws you into a base battle and selects units for you to use. Hell mode uses both hero battles and base battles but these levels, just like the name implies, are extremely hard. Santa mode is a mode that Blue released around Christmas time and has you helping santa to defend against the evil army so he can deliver presents.

I like all the games in the Cartoon Wars series. Cartoon Wars 1 was fun but like I said above it didn't end and you never really beat the game. Gunner was the same way. Blue really did well with Cartoon Wars 2 because it found a way to combine the other two games and make it fun. When I got these games they were all a dollar but I don't know if that has changed at all. Blue regularly updates Cartoon Wars 2 so the game never really gets old because there is always new content to play. I would recommend these games to anyone who likes single track strategy games.

N.O.V.A.

If you like sci-fi shooters then NOVA is a game that you would really like. NOVA is like Halo for the iPod in the sense that it is based in the future and you have to fight aliens. You play as a soldier that has left the human alliance because he does not want to fight anymore. He gets brought back in, against his will, to help fight because he is one of the best soldiers in the alliance. There is two parts to this game, NOVA and NOVA 2. These games cost about five dollars a piece but i think they are worth is.

I really like NOVA and NOVA 2 a lot. The graphics are pretty good for an iPod game and the game play is fun. The controls are very good because you have your standard layout but if you don't like that layout you can place you buttons and D-Pads where you want them. one of the things I like the most about these games is that you can play online for free. The online is fast and rarely lags, the online play is fun, and like Call of Duty you can rank up your player and get new guns and equipment. One other thing that is nice about the online play is that it is free. NOVA has pushed the first person shooter genre pretty far on the iPod and i think that there will be more good shooter games like this made in the future.

Great Little War Game

I'm always looking for good strategy games that are free on the App store. When i saw this game this game, Great Little War Game I decided to give it a try, what the heck its free. I never thought I would like it as much as I do. It is a good game and is a very in depth strategy game. You can either play the campaign or you can play skirmish mode. The campaign consist of a general who is invading...something you never really find out what. There is another campaign that is about the same general trying to impress the girl he likes. Both campaigns are the same in how they are played: You control the movements of you troops who are either given to you at the beginning of each level or made from certain buildings that you take over or start out with. There are land, sea and air units. Each specific unit has is own strength and weakness so you have to know when to use each unit.

I like Great Little War Game a lot! Usually I don't expect much from free games but this one had me very impressed. The graphics are amazing, very clear and good. The game play is very good, it is very in depth and it makes you think a lot about what you are doing. Even on easy the game gets hard fast, but the cool thing about it is that the same level can be played differently every time you try it, there is no specific way to play a certain level because the computer will always react differently. The skirmish mode is fun because you can either play against the computer or you can play against other people through pass and play mode. Pass and play mode is just what it sounds like, that is two people playing using the same Ipod passing it to each other after their turn is done. I would recommend that you try this game if you like strategy  games, you won't be disappointing.

Risk

I love stragety games. I like it when you actually think about what you are doing and what would be the best way to do it. For this reason alone I like the game Risk.

Risk was origionally a board game, but it has been turned into a game for mobile devices. In the game you have one objective: to defeate everyone else playing and achieve world domination. On the Ipod the game is pretty simple, you can chose to play with other people or against the computers and how many people you are playing against. Once you do this you begin the game one of two ways, you can either have the computer chose your territories(the world is divided into 50 some territories) and place your troops for you, or you can manually chose your territories and place your troops. If you chose manual set up you go around taking turns choosing territories and once every territory has been chosen you begin placing troops one at a time.

With the board game when you battled you rolled dice, and the Ipod version is the same way. This is just the highlights of the rules, the rest are simple enough that you will pick up on as you go.

As I said above I love stragety games because you actually have to think about what your doing and if you don't your usually knocked out of the game so you have to be careful. Stragety games are hard at first but after you play them for a while they become easier, and it doesn't really matter what type of stragety game it is because most of them are reletivly the same in how they are played. There will be several other stragety games I will be talking about because I play so many of them.
